Expertise
I am a physicist working in physical oceanography, focusing on the dynamics of coastal and marginal seas, with particular emphasis on the Baltic Sea. My research combines high-resolution numerical modelling, theory, and observations to understand transport, mixing, and circulation processes across scales—from submesoscale dynamics to basin-wide exchange. A key aspect of my work is linking physical processes to biogeochemical and environmental challenges, including oxygen dynamics, sea level variability, and the transport of pollutants such as legacy munitions.
