IT & Data Management

The department IT & Data Management is one of the central units at IOW. It ensures a stable and reliable technical infrastructure, which serves as an essential basis for effective scientific work.

Key responsibilities include maintaining a secure internal and external network, managing internal server, backup, and archiving services, assisting staff with hardware and software procurement, and providing secure email and telephony services.

The department IT & Data Management also ensures the central internal data storage at IOW (e.g., management of IOW databases, administration of the measurement data archive), guarantees data preparation for the BSH as part of the Baltic Sea Monitoring Program, and provides valuable support in research data management.
