Dr. Quentin Devresse

As a microbial biogeochemist, I aim to understand how microorganisms control global biogeochemical cycles. During my PhD, I studied how cyclonic eddies through upwelling shape phytoplankton and bacterial biomass at the sub-mesoscale and influence the production, remineralization, and export of organic matter. In the Microbial Plankton and Fungal Ecology group, I study the difference in carbon and nitrogen assimilation by different genera of diatoms at the individual cell level, using stable isotope incubations and SIMS technology. I also work on fungi characterization using a metabarcoding and CARD-FISH approach.
