6th International Baltic Earth Conference

April 13–17, 2026: The 6th International Baltic Earth Conference will take place in Heringsdorf on Usedom, Germany. It covers a wide range of Baltic Sea research topics, from climate variability and coastal change to biogeochemistry, policymaking and philosophical aspects. This reflects the research of the new Baltic Earth 2.0 science plan, which will be published soon.

12th Baltic Earth Summer School
'Climate of the Baltic Sea region'

August 17–24, 2026: The 12th Baltic Earth Summer School aims at master’s students in marine sciences and related fields and takes place on the island of Askö in Sweden. Students will be introduced into fundamental processes of the atmosphere, ocean, sea-ice, and land surface with relevance for the climate system.

Coastal Summer School 2026
'Environmental monitoring - a powerful tool for sustainable management of our seas'

September 12 - 22, 2026:
Together with the Helmholtz centers Hereon and Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, the IOW offers an international summer school for master’s and PhD students as well as for postdocs. It is the 23rd time, the successful joint summer school will take place; this year’s focus is on environmental monitoring as a highly effective tool for sustainable oceans management.
